Saddle-stitched booklets, printed and bound in Fremantle.

Stapled booklets, or saddle-stitch as we say in industry, are the most cost effective binding that we offer. We run a top of the line Plockmatic booklet maker in our Fremantle shop: print, fold, staple along the spine, and trim to the finished size all happen in one pass off the press. We're very proud of the quality booklets that we are able to provide.

When making up saddle stitch (stapled) booklets, page counts must be in multiples of 4 - we offer 8 to 52 pages. If you have more pages than that, send us a request for a quote, and we'll tell you how much it will cost. We can print up to 140 pages depending on the stock. Standard turnaround is two to four business days; choose Rush if you need them ready sooner or by a specific date.

Product details

For catalogues, menus, programs and company profiles.

Saddle-stitch binding (two staples through the spine) is the right choice for booklets up to 52 pages: it lies flat enough to read comfortably, it is sturdy enough for repeated handling, and it is fast to produce. Landscape A4 is the popular pick for menus and look books; portrait A5 is the workhorse for event programs and training manuals. We can quote heavier or shorter print runs on request.

Sizing

A4 portrait (210 × 297mm) for catalogues, training manuals and company profiles. A4 landscape (210 × 297mm) for menus, look books and photo-heavy decks. A5 portrait (148 × 210mm) for event programs and pocket guides. A5 landscape (210 × 148mm) for compact promotional booklets. Page counts run from 8 to 52 in multiples of 4 (the page count must be a multiple of 4 because of how saddle stitch imposes).

Stocks and finishes

Six weights, one stock for the cover and the inside pages (self-cover). Uncoated 90 or 100gsm for a plain paper feel that takes pen. Recycled 135gsm. Coated matt or gloss at 150, 170 or 200gsm: 150gsm reads as a magazine, 170gsm as a quality program, 200gsm as a heavier brochure. Contact us if you want a heavier cover stock paired with a lighter text.

Artwork

Upload one print-ready PDF per order with all pages in sequence and 3mm bleed. Single-page PDFs work, but multi-page PDFs make our imposition step faster and reduce the chance of pages being shuffled. We also accept AI and InDesign packages on request. Every file is reviewed by our staff in Fremantle before it gets sent to the printer.

Turnaround and delivery

Booklets run on Standard or Rush tiers. Standard is the most common pick for catalogues and event collateral; Rush is for tighter deadlines. Free click & collect from 63 Queen Victoria St, Fremantle, or $35 flat-rate delivery to metro areas Australia-wide.

Booklet printing

What booklet printing costs, for booklets, magazines and programs.

Saddle-stitched booklets from 8 to 52 pages, A5 to A4, printed, folded, stapled and trimmed in one pass on the shop's Plockmatic finisher. Price, time and file spec below.

Price

$20050 × A5, 8 pages
$285100 × A5, 8 pages
$25550 × A4, 8 pages
$400100 × A4, 8 pages

Those are on 150gsm coated matt, self-cover, at the Standard turnaround. The cheapest run is 50 A5 8-page booklets on 90gsm uncoated at $190. A 24-page A4 at 100 copies is $900. Page count runs 8 to 52 in steps of 4, quantity 50 to 1,000, and the page prices every combination as you pick.

Time

Standard booklets are ready in two to four business days. Rush is same day: order before 11am on a business day and collect that afternoon. 100 A4 8-page booklets are $459 on Rush against $400 on Standard.

Magazines, programs, catalogues, saddle stitch

They are all the same product. A saddle-stitched booklet is two staples through the spine, which suits anything up to 52 pages. The cover is the same stock as the inside pages. That keeps the price down and works for event programs, price lists, annual reports, zines and short-run magazines.

Sizes: A5 148 × 210mm, A4 210 × 297mm, A4 landscape, and 210mm square. Stocks: uncoated 90 or 100gsm, recycled 135gsm, coated matt or gloss at 150, 170 or 200gsm.

What to send

One PDF with every page in reading order and 3mm bleed. The page count must be a multiple of 4. Packaged InDesign files are fine too. A person in the shop checks the imposition and calls you if a page is missing or a spread will not fold right.

Collect or deliver

Collect free from 63 Queen Victoria St, Fremantle, Monday to Friday, or $35 flat delivery to metro areas at any quantity. If there is a genuine problem with the print, we reprint it free.

Docuprint were incredible from my first call to the finished product. Ipek and Aiden's understanding of my need to attach a barcode to the label ( and did a few alterations along they way) were courteous and got the job done quickly. Highly recommend Docuprint Fremantle as it seems nothing is too much trouble for this team.. Thank you again 👍

Docuprint has been fantastic in providing high-quality banners and flags for our early childhood education and care centres. The team is always easy to communicate with, helpful throughout the process, and consistently delivers products that look amazing. There’s a reason we’ve come back to order multiple times :)

Ipek and Alan are absolutely amazing! There is never a job too big, too complicated or too small for them. They are knowledgeable about so many aspects of this industry and you definitely feel looked after. Communication is great and all my printing jobs both for my business and personal are done and charged at a reasonable rate. There has been many times where they have met short deadlines and will work hard to have all things ready. Great team and I could t recommend them enough!!

FAQ

Commonly asked.

A print-ready PDF with all pages in sequence (the same order they should appear in the finished booklet) and 3mm bleed. AI and packaged InDesign files are also fine on request. Please don't provide your file "pre-imposed", meaning already having the pages side-by-side. The pages should be in order, and our print software will handle the format.
