Choosing laminating
How the size sets the laminating method.
- Pouch (A5, A4 and A3): the sheet goes inside a clear plastic pouch, fed through a hot laminator
- Pouch laminated sheets are rigid and glossy, with a small sealed border on all four sides
- Roll (A2, A1 and A0): cold film comes off a roll and bonds to the sheet under pressure
- Roll laminated sheets are flexible, with a small clear sealed margin, and can still roll up
- Laminate menus, price lists, instruction sheets, procedure cards and signage posters
- Laminate council notices, real estate window cards and building-site reference plans
- Laminate anything that is handled, wiped down, or pinned up outdoors under cover
Artwork

Laminating FAQs
What is the difference between hot and cold lamination?
Hot pouch lamination (small sizes, A5 to A3) seals the print inside a thick plastic pouch by heat. The result is rigid and glossy with a sealed border. Cold roll lamination (large sizes, A2 to A0) applies a film from a roll under pressure, no heat. The result is flexible and the sheet can still roll up or fold. Roll-laminated sheets are also the right choice for prints with heat-sensitive inks or coatings.
Can I laminate prints you did not print?
Yes. Pay online for the size and quantity, then drop the sheets to 63 Queen Victoria St, Fremantle. They are ready for click & collect in 2 to 4 business days. Make sure the sheets are flat, dry, and within the size band; oversize trims or fold-outs will need a quote.
How thick is the lamination?
Pouch lamination is 80 micron (gloss) by default. Roll lamination is gloss film on a clear film roll. If you need matte or a different thickness (125 micron pouch for menus, or anti-glare matte for signage) let us know on the order; we stock the common alternatives.
Can you laminate just one side?
Pouch lamination is double-sided by definition (the sheet sits inside a pouch). Single-sided lamination is only possible on roll lamination at A2 or larger; the back stays bare. Tell us at order if you need single-sided.
