Folds and sizes

Each brochure starts as a flat A4 or A3 sheet.

Half fold: one fold down the middle, 4 panels. An A4 sheet folds to A5 (148 × 210mm). An A3 sheet folds to A4 (210 × 297mm)
Tri-fold: two panels fold in, one over the other, 6 panels. An A4 sheet folds to DL (99 × 210mm). An A3 sheet folds to Tall (140 × 297mm)
Z-fold: the sheet folds back and forth like a Z, 6 panels. An A4 sheet folds to DL (99 × 210mm)
Gate fold: two outer panels fold in and meet in the middle. An A3 sheet folds to A4 (210 × 297mm)

Paper and lamination

150gsm matt is our standard stock for brochures.

Matt: a low-glare coating. Text is easy to read under shop lights
Gloss: a shiny coating. Photographs are brighter
170gsm: a thicker sheet, for menus and brochures that are handled often

Matt lamination: a smooth film with no glare
Gloss lamination: a shiny film, vibrant colour
Laminate the outside only, or both sides
Lamination protects the brochure from marks and wear

Artwork

Our staff in Fremantle review every file before it is sent to the printer.

Print-ready PDF at 300 DPI, set up as the flat A4 or A3 sheet, with 3mm bleed
We also accept AI, EPS, PSD and packaged InDesign files
Keep text at least 5mm away from each fold and from the trim

If text sits too close to a fold, we email you before we print
No artwork yet? Our designers can build the brochure from your logo and text, quoted per job

Which fold should I pick?

A DL tri-fold or Z-fold for services and price lists, read one panel at a time. A half fold for photographs and longer text. A gate fold opens to a wide inside spread. Tall (1/3 A3) suits cafe and takeaway menus.

Can I get brochures the same day?

Yes, on runs of up to 1,000. Pick Rush and order before 11am on a business day, and the brochures are ready to collect in Fremantle that afternoon.

Which paper should I pick?

150gsm matt suits most brochures. Pick gloss for brighter photographs, and 170gsm for menus and brochures that are handled often.

Should I laminate my brochures?

Lamination is a thin film over the print. It protects the brochure from marks and wear, so it suits menus and brochures that stay on a counter. You can laminate the outside only, or both sides.

Do the brochures come folded?

Yes. Every sheet is scored, then folded, before it is ready.

What file should I send?

We prefer a high resolution PDF of the flat sheet, with 3mm bleed.

Vector files (.EPS, .SVG) are the best format for print
Image files (.PNG, .JPG) are fine at 300 DPI at the final size
Working files (.AI, .PSD, InDesign) are accepted, but we would rather you export the PDF
