Finishes

The finish is the coating or treatment on top of the print.

Standard: the printed card with no coating
Matt Laminated: a soft matt film on both faces. Low glare, and it resists marks and wear
Gloss Laminated: a shiny film on both faces. Photos and strong colours look richer
Velvet Laminated: our premium laminate. A matt film with no shine and an ultra-soft touch, on both faces
Waterproof: a 260 micron synthetic stock. It does not tear or soak up water
Flat UV: clear gloss on the parts of the design you choose, flat to the touch
Raised UV: clear gloss on the parts of the design you choose, raised so you can feel it
Foil: gold, silver or rose gold foil, priced by quotation

Flat UV and Raised UV cards are on 420gsm artboard with matt laminate, printed on both sides
Foil cards are on 350gsm matt
Spot UV, waterproof and foil cards start at 250 cards
Rush is for standard, laminated and waterproof cards. UV is a second pass after printing, so UV cards run on Standard

Paper stock

Standard and laminated cards come on six stocks.

Uncoated 300gsm: no coating, so it takes a pen well
Matt 350gsm: smooth, with no shine
Gloss 350gsm: smooth, with a glossy sheen
Recycled 350gsm: uncoated, with visible fibre
Linen 350gsm: a fine woven texture
Artboard 420gsm: our heaviest and stiffest board

A higher gsm number means a heavier, stiffer card
Waterproof, UV and foil cards each have one set stock

Our staff in Fremantle review every file before it is sent to the printer.

Print-ready PDF at 300 DPI at the final card size, with 3mm bleed. A 90 × 55mm card is 96 × 61mm with bleed
We also accept AI, EPS, PSD, TIFF and high-resolution JPG or PNG

We check the bleed, the image resolution, the fonts and the colours

What size is a business card in Australia?

The Australian standard is 90 × 55mm. It fits wallets, card holders and most card slots. We also print 90 × 50mm, 85 × 55mm (the size of a credit card) and 80 × 50mm.

Can I get business cards the same day?

Yes, on standard, laminated and waterproof cards. Pick Rush and order before 11am on a business day, and the cards are ready to collect in Fremantle that afternoon. Spot UV cards are ready in 5 to 7 business days, and foil cards in 5 to 10.

What is the difference between matt, gloss and velvet laminate?

Matt laminate is soft to the touch and has low glare, so text is easy to read. Gloss laminate is shiny, so photos and strong colours look richer. Velvet laminate is our premium laminate: a matt film with no shine and an ultra-soft touch. All three put a thin film on each face, which protects the card from marks and wear.

What is spot UV?

Spot UV is a clear gloss coating on the parts of the design you choose, for example a logo. Flat UV is level with the card. Raised UV stands up from the card, so you can feel it. Both go on 420gsm artboard with matt laminate.

Why is foil priced by quote?

The cost of foil depends on the size and the detail of the foil area in your design, so we price each job from the artwork. Send your artwork through the quote form and we reply with a price. Foil cards are ready in 5 to 10 business days.

What file should I send?

We prefer a high resolution PDF, at the final card size with 3mm bleed.

Vector files (.EPS, .SVG) are the best format for print
Image files (.PNG, .JPG) are fine at 300 DPI at the final size
Working files (.AI, .PSD) are accepted, but we would rather you export the PDF

Do you deliver?

Yes. Collection from 63 Queen Victoria St, Fremantle is free. Courier delivery goes Australia-wide, priced by postcode at checkout.

What if the print has a fault?
